Hanover, Va. – On Monday, February 6, 2023, deputies responded to a residence in the 9000 block of Shelly Drive for a disturbance. Once deputies arrived on scene they determined that an individual had forced entry into the home and assaulted one of the residents.
The victim was found to have numerous stab wounds about her person. Medical aid was immediately rendered and she was transported by Hanover Fire-EMS to VCU Medical Center. Thankfully, she is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspect, Alexis Tanya Ortega, 22, of Richmond, was located by deputies still inside the residence and was immediately taken into custody. Ortega has since been charged with the following crimes: Attempted Murder, Breaking and Entering with Intent to Commit a Felony, Malicious Wounding and Assault of Law Enforcement.
This was an isolated incident and is believed to be domestic in nature.
