At or around 2:25 p.m. on February 13, 2020, administrators at Lee Davis High School, in Mechanicsville, located a male trespasser in the school. The suspect was detained shortly thereafter by the deputy assigned to Lee Davis High School and responding deputies.
Subsequently, the suspect was found to be in possession of a firearm, knife and suspected marijuana. The suspect was arrested and transported to Pamunkey Regional Jail.
Believed to be related, a vehicle fled the scene as law enforcement arrived. The occupants of the vehicle are unknown and still being investigated.
No students or staff were harmed during the incident . The suspect has been identified as, 19 year old, Deashawn Winston of Louisa County. He has been charged with Trespassing on School Property, two counts of Possession of a Weapon On School Property (knife and firearm) and Possession of Marijuana. Winston is being held on a secured bond at Pamunkey Regional Jail.
Investigators are still interviewing witnesses and reviewing video from the school.
