Hanover, VA – Overnight, the Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a threatening message received through social media. At the time the message was received it was unknown as to whether or not the threat was specifically made toward Patrick Henry High School located in Hanover County or in another part of the country. The Sheriff’s Office immediately began coordinating with our law enforcement counterparts to conduct a thorough investigation.
In response to this threat and our commitment to school safety, the Sheriff’s Office had an increased presence at all of our schools throughout the day.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens that social media can have an expansive audience. We take all threats seriously, especially when associated with the safety of our schools.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all of the parents and students that have cooperated throughout this investigation.
